The Tricky Thieves

Once upon a time, in a small village located in the southern part of India, there was a priest. He was known for his devotion to the gods and his performance of religious rituals. People respected him greatly. One day, as a token of appreciation, he was gifted a goat. The priest was super happy, he slung the goat over his shoulder and began his journey back home.  As the priest walked along the dusty road, four theives observed him from the shadows. They saw the goat and decided to play a prank on the priest.

The first one approached the priest with wide eyes and said, “Sir, why are you carrying a dog on your shoulders? ” The priest, amused, replied, “Can’t you see? It’s not a dog; it’s a goat!” He thought the man was joking and continued on his way. The second one stepped forward. He pointed at the goat and said, “Why burden yourself with a dog? Wise men shouldn’t do such foolish things.” Now annoyed, the priest yelled, “Nonsense! This is a goat!” But the  thief calmly responded, “Sir, I’m just telling you what I see. ”  Doubts began to creep into the priest’s mind.

As he walked farther, the third thief intercepted him. With a mischievous grin, he asked, “Why, sir, are you carrying a dog? Dogs are meant to walk, not  be carried on your shoulder.” The priest started to worry. Maybe these men were right? Was he really carrying a dog? As he neared his village, he made a decision and handed over the dog to the thief.

So what do ya'll think the moral of this story is? I personally believe it is to trust yourself, even when you're in doubt. This skill is essential. As you get older, you will meet many types of people, some who are good but others who are not. Thus, you should not be persuaded by those who twist reality and instead trust your own judgement. I hope this tale gave you guys something to think about, see you next month!
