The Hidden Treasure

The Hidden Treasure: Reflections on a High School Journey Dear readers, I can’t believe spring break is almost here. As high school activities begin to wind down and we start finalizing the exciting journey toward college, I’ve found myself reflecting on a story that changed my perspective on my four years here: The Treasure Hunt. The tale goes like this: An elderly farmer, knowing his time was running short, gathered his sons around his bed. "Listen carefully," he told them, his voice serious. "Our family estate holds a great treasure somewhere on its land. I don't know exactly where it is, but it's there. Search every inch. Leave no stone unturned." When the father passed, the sons didn't hesitate. They grabbed their spades and started digging. They turned over every foot of soil, searching the fields multiple times and going over the same ground again and again until their hands blistered and their backs ached. Weeks passed. No gold. No jewels. No t...

The Bear's Whisper

High school's all about meeting new faces and finding your own set of friends but not all people will have your back when things get rough. True friends are incredibly rare to find so if you end up finding one, dont let go! As y'all can tell, this months blog will be relating to the theme of friendship so without further ado, let us get started!

In a small town surrounded by the wilderness, there were two friends, Mia and Lia who were bonded by their shared love for nature. They were inseparable and did everything together. One day, Mia and Lia decided to go on a mountain trail for a hike. It was early in the morning, and the vibe was just perfect: the air was fresh, and the trail was through beautiful pine trees that looked like something out of a postcard.

But then, a massive grizzly bear popped up. Both girls started to freak out and ran down the trail. While they were running, Lia tripped over a stone and fell. Mia, on the other hand, kept on running as she was scared and did not look back.

Lia was left there alone and scared out of her mind. She was so sure that this would be the end of her and she would wind up in the news the next day, she could already see the headlines, "Teen mauled by bear!" Suddenly, she remembered something her wildness instructor told her a few years ago, when faced with a big animal the best thing to do is lie absolutely still and play dead. Lia, with nothing to lose, decided to heed her instructors advice and play dead. As the bear started getting closer, Lia held her breath and closed her eyes. She felt it taking a sniff and then it turned around and walked away.

After everything calmed down, Mia came back and exclaimed "Whoa, you're okay! That's awesome,"  Then she got curious. "Hey, did the bear do anything to you?" she asked.

Lia brushed the the dirt off of herself off and glared at Mia "Yeah, the bear  told me something important," taking a deep breath, she continued "It told me watch out for friends who dip when things get rough."

Remember y'all, true friends are rare so when you find one, keep them. Also, keep in mind it is good to be therefore everyone around you as well! Thank you for reading and see you next month!
