The Hidden Treasure

The Hidden Treasure: Reflections on a High School Journey Dear readers, I can’t believe spring break is almost here. As high school activities begin to wind down and we start finalizing the exciting journey toward college, I’ve found myself reflecting on a story that changed my perspective on my four years here: The Treasure Hunt. The tale goes like this: An elderly farmer, knowing his time was running short, gathered his sons around his bed. "Listen carefully," he told them, his voice serious. "Our family estate holds a great treasure somewhere on its land. I don't know exactly where it is, but it's there. Search every inch. Leave no stone unturned." When the father passed, the sons didn't hesitate. They grabbed their spades and started digging. They turned over every foot of soil, searching the fields multiple times and going over the same ground again and again until their hands blistered and their backs ached. Weeks passed. No gold. You Can’t Make Everyone Happy

Hi Everyone! How are y'all doing?

Have you ever felt like, no matter what you do, there’s always someone that is going to judge you? There’s a classic story about an old man, his grandson, and their donkey that perfectly captures this struggle.

One day, an old man and his grandson were walking to the town square with their donkey. Wanting to be kind, the old man let the boy ride the donkey while he walked alongside. As they made their way down the road, a group of people saw them and started laughing. “Can you believe that boy?” they scoffed. “He’s so young, yet he’s making the poor old man walk!”

Feeling bad about their words, the old man told his grandson to get down and decided to ride the donkey himself. They continued on, but soon enough, they ran into another group who looked at them with disapproval. “What kind of man makes a little boy walk while he rides the donkey? That’s so selfish!” they muttered.

Now more confused than ever, the old man had his grandson climb up so they could both ride the donkey together. They thought this would finally solve the problem, but when they reached another group of people, they were met with angry shouts. “Look at those two! How cruel! They’re going to exhaust that poor donkey!”

Frustrated, the old man and his grandson decided to walk alongside the donkey for the rest of their journey. But before long, they ran into yet another group who burst out laughing. “Wow, how ridiculous are you? You have a donkey, but you’re not even using it!”

By this point, the old man finally understood. He turned to his grandson and said, “You see, no matter what we do, people will always have something to say. The most important thing is to do what we believe is right.”

This story does have a clear moral, it is that you can't please everyone do don't waste your time trying. Just focus on yourself and your own happiness! I hope you guys found this story enjoyable and see you next month!
